J. Eugene McMurry, M.D. – ENT Specialist

J. Eugene McMurry, M.D. – ENT Specialist

A North Carolina native, Dr. McMurry attended Shelby High School where he received a Morehead Scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed medical school in 1980 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. McMurry completed his general surgery residency in 1982 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire. He returned to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to complete a residency in otolaryngology from 1982-1985, serving as chief resident in 1985. Dr. McMurry joined Wilmington Ear Nose and Throat Associates in 1985.

Dr. McMurry is Board Certified in Otolaryngology. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. His clinical expertise includes nasal diseases and surgery, thyroid surgery, laryngology, pediatric ear, nose and throat, and head and neck surgery.

S. Elizabeth von Biberstein, M.D. – ENT Specialist

S. Elizabeth von  Biberstein, M.D. – ENT Specialist

A native of Burgaw, Dr. von Biberstein graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986 and earned her doctorate of medicine from East Carolina University in 1991. She then completed a general surgery internship at Bowman Gray School of Medicine followed by a residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of CT in Farmington, CT. Dr. von Biberstein practiced general otolaryngology in Cartersville, Ga., for 2 1/2 years prior to joining Wilmington Ear Nose & Throat Associates in the summer of 1999.

Dr. von Biberstein is Board Certified in Otolaryngology. She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Her clinical expertise includes sinus and nasal diseases and surgery, thyroid surgery, pediatric ear, nose and throat and head and neck surgery.

She resides in Wilmington with her husband, Frank Hobart, who is a cardiologist with Coastal Cardiology Associates and her two sons. She enjoys running, snow skiing, cooking, playing the guitar and spending time with her family at the beach.

George Moore Brinson, M.D. – ENT Specialist

George Moore  Brinson, M.D. – ENT Specialist

A native of Tarboro, N.C., Dr. Brinson completed most of his training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was awarded the Morehead Scholarship and received a B.S. in chemistry and an M.D. with honors.

He remained at UNC to complete a five-year residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. After residency, he completed a fellowship in Otology/Neurotology at Pittsburgh Ear Associates. He then joined Wilmington Ear Nose and Throat Associates.

Dr. Brinson is Board Certified in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. His work has been published in numerous scientific publications regarding ear surgery, sinus surgery and medical ear diseases. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has privileges at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Cape Fear Hospital and Wilmington SurgCare. His clinical expertise includes medical and surgical diseases of the ear, pediatric ENT, head and neck surgery, sinus surgery, thyroid surgery and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. 

His personal interests include fishing, boating, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife, Brandy, and their two children.

Stuart M. Hardy, M.D. – ENT Specialist

Stuart M. Hardy, M.D. – ENT Specialist

Dr. Hardy moved to North Carolina in 1989 to attend Davidson College, where he majored in Biology with a minor in Medical Humanities. After graduating magna cum laude from Davidson, Dr. Hardy worked for three years as an instructor for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in the Maine Wilderness and Florida Everglades.

Dr. Hardy attended the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, where he graduated with Highest Honors. After graduating from UNC, he remained in Chapel Hill for both his General Surgery internship and Otolaryngology residency training. His professional interests include the medical management of allergies and sinusitis, sinus surgery, skin cancer removal and reconstruction, pediatric otolaryngology, thyroid and parathyroid surgery and cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  

Dr. Hardy lives in Wilmington with his wife, Marie, who is a dermatologist at Dermatology Associates and his three children. His hobbies include surfing, fishing, and running.

Todd A. Stugart, FNP-BC -Nurse Practitioner

Todd A. Stugart, FNP-BC

Todd Stugart obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. He went on to obtain his Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. His previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner includes emergency medicine. Mr. Stugart has been practicing Otolaryngology since 2005.  He is a member of the Sociery of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses, the North Carolina Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association. He resides in Southport with his wife Sandi and his dog. He enjoys playing guitar, SCUBA diving, running and riding his bike.

Jen Kingsbury is an allied member of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and attends AAOA educational seminars to stay current with new allergy trends and practices.  She has also been a Certified Pharmacy Technician for 5 years and is regularly completing pharmaceutical continuing eduacation to ensure patient safety and medication safety.  She is very highly regarded by patients and staff.

Maria Denton - Allergy Technician

Maria Denton received her Bachelor’s degree from UNCW in 2011 and has been practicing as a certified Pharmacy Technician since 2007. She has experience in a variety of clinical settings and is also certified in Sterile Compounding and aseptic technique. She has a passion for quality patient care as well as improving patient medication compliance and medication safety.

Julie Grgurevic, M.S., CCC-A – ENT Specialist

Julie, originally from New Hyde Park, N.Y., completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I. She received her Master of Science degree in Audiology from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. She joined Wilmington Ear Nose & Throat Associates in 2004 where she completed her clinical fellowship. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in Audiology. She is also licensed by the North Carolina State Hearing Aid Dealers and Fittings Board.

Julie, originally from Boone, N.C., completed her undergraduate studies at Appalachian State University, in Boone, N.C. She received her Master of Arts degree in Audiology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She joined Wilmington Ear Nose & Throat Associates in 2009. She is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists and by the North Carolina State Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters Board.

Lindsey, from Chesapeake, VA, completed her undergraduate studies at Longwood University in Farmville, Va. She received her Doctorate in Audiology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. She joined Wilmington Ear Nose & Throat Associates in 2012. She is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
